Energie Graz cuts electricity price by 25 per cent

Electricity price reduction of 25 percent from 1 October 2025: More than 70,000 households and small businesses with fixed price tariffs will benefit. Reduction means annual savings of around 200 euros for the average household. Plus: Gas price indexation as of 1 July 2025.
The purchase prices for electricity have stabilised at a lower level on the wholesale markets over the past year. ‘We are therefore once again promptly honouring our promise to pass on the positive market development to our customers as quickly as possible,’ say the Managing Directors of Energie Graz, Josef Landschützer and Boris Papousek.
As of 1 October 2025, Energie Graz will therefore reduce the fixed price tariffs for electricity by 25 percent to 15.78 cents gross per kilowatt hour. In total, more than 70,000 households and small businesses in Graz will benefit. The annual savings for an average household – which consumes around 3,500 kilowatt hours of electricity per year – amount to around 200 euros. Energie Graz also offers an alternative flex tariff with dynamic price adjustment and a natural electricity tariff from 100 per cent regional renewable energy sources.
Three price reductions have also already been made in the gas sector since spring 2023 due to the sustained easing of wholesale gas prices. Despite a slight index adjustment to 5.93 cents gross per kilowatt hour in the middle of the year, Energie Graz currently offers one of the cheapest fixed-price gas tariffs in Austria.
Please note: Due to changes in legal regulations, customers must actively agree to the electricity price reduction. They will be contacted proactively in the coming weeks and informed of the necessary steps in this regard.
Energie Graz will continue to provide a hardship fund for low-income households. This is endowed with a total of one million euros. The funds are administered by the Social Welfare Office of the City of Graz and Caritas and are sufficiently available – Energie Graz customers can receive support of up to 800 euros.
